Makila Harmonie Edition

Understanding Dressage and the Biomechanics of Horse and Rider

We believe dressage should allow horses to express themselves with the greatest possible freedom.

At Devoucoux, with over 40 years of expertise, we have supported the evolution of dressage through close collaboration with riders and discipline specialists. For more than 15 years, we have also invested in scientific research to better understand equine biomechanics in motion.

Studying the impact of both rider and saddle on the horse’s back is essential in designing and testing dressage saddles that respect movement, performance and equine well-being.

Below is an example of a test carried out by our R&D team, measuring the effect of the Makila Harmonie on a horse’s back in motion.

Technical Features – Key Highlights

At the heart of the Makila Harmonie lies the tree, incorporating Dynamick® technology. Made from advanced composite materials, it provides flexibility and enhanced freedom of movement.

It is the only dressage tree designed with wide, flexible arch points, allowing the horse’s shoulders to move freely and naturally.

Beyond the tree, the saddle features wide panels combining optimised foam densities and perfect symmetry, ensuring balanced contact and consistent pressure distribution.

For the rider, the narrow twist offers both comfort and stability. Designed for modern dressage, it allows a deeper seat position and a naturally aligned leg thanks to the orientation of the flap and knee block.

Bringing This Expertise to Every Rider

Through specialised training, our saddle experts have developed in-depth knowledge of horse and rider biomechanics in motion, saddle craftsmanship, and the full range of adjustment possibilities — ensuring a truly bespoke fit.
